Description/Overview:
Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) rates are steadily inclining nationwide and can result in increased morbidity, mortality, and healthcare costs. According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), approximately 20 million new infections occur annually in the United States. STIs are preventable and screening and protection are essential. Reducing STIs and the potential complications can improve health outcomes and quality of life.
Objectives:
By the end of this presentation, the participant will be able to:
- Identify common STIs and common patient presentations of these STIs.
- Understand potential complications of untreated STIs.
Target Audience:
Registered nurses.
